EMDR was found coincidentally when a veteran who was traumatized by war was being treated.

EMDR (Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) is a very simple and effective method that accesses to the brain in order to reintegrate separated part of the brain with the whole brain.

It helps you reduce the intensity of your trauma (sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse, panic attacks, car accident, childhood trauma, trauma relevant to substance dependence

In a session, I will help you figure out your core belief, emotion, thought, physical sensation relevant to a traumatic event, and the worst part of it. If necessary, we will trace back the origin of trauma in which you may have experienced a similar emotion, thought, and physical sensation. At the same time, I will help you find positive resources relevant to your positive experiences such as safe people, safe places, activities that make you feel positive and/or confident in order to handle your trauma.

After we figure them out, you will move your eyes to side to side or diagnally with my support. I will help you these dirctions to move your eyes. This eye movement is called Bilateral movement which stimulates the disintegrated part of the brain via eyes andreintegrate emotion, physical sensation and core belief.

You do not have to verbalize your traumatic experiences over and over in a session.
